On May 18, Hensel Phelps commemorated the completion of the structural steel on the Dormitories at Tyndall Air Force Base. The company hosted a topping out event attended by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) direct project team members, senior Air Force Contractor & Engineer Consultants (AFCEC), Base Architect, senior individuals from the 325th squadron of pilots, trade partners, local suppliers and more. The project team celebrated their achievements with a BBQ and tokens of appreciation gifted for their hard work.
Hurricane Michael’s devastation on the Florida Panhandle in 2018 left Tyndall Air Force Base severely damaged. The USACE Mobile District awarded Hensel Phelps’ Southeast Region the $129 million project to rebuild the base. The completion of the Dormitories project will provide permanent housing for 480 military personnel and offer community activity spaces, kitchenettes and meeting rooms.
The topping out ceremony marked a significant milestone and brought the Tyndall Dormitories one step closer to becoming a new home for many.
