About the Project
The United Parcel Service (UPS) awarded Hensel Phelps the $184 million new Northwest Aircraft Maintenance Complex at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. The project includes constructing a 155,000 SF clear span, single bay, multi-position hangar, a two-story office and shop complex and an engine and bulk storage facility. The hangar can handle two 747-8F aircraft simultaneously. The apron required approximately one million SF of concrete paving to support a total of seven 747-8F aircraft, a ground support equipment staging area, a fire pump room remote building and employee parking. The total project spans roughly 42 acres.
