About the Project
Located across the street from the State Capitol, the project consists of renovating and restoring an existing Masonic Temple constructed in 1929 into a 274-room hotel. The 215,000-SF four-star hotel contains 12,000 SF of meeting space and a first-class restaurant and lounge. The hotel works hand-in-hand with the Veterans Memorial Auditorium (VMA) to create a cultural district and social area in which the City of Providence and State of Rhode Island can take great pride.
Combining the entertainment venues of the VMA with the food and beverage facilities of the hotel creates a great synergy to redevelop the entire area into the Avenue of the Arts. Compliant with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation, the original 1926 Masonic Temple façade and ionic columns were protected and restored. The original entrance to the building was maintained, as well as the general flow of spaces.
