Kate Crawford, director of safety and health for Hensel Phelps Services Group, has been appointed by California Governor Newsom to the Cal/OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board. The Standards Board, a seven-member body appointed by the Governor, is the standards-setting agency within the Cal/OSHA program. The Standards Board’s objective is to adopt reasonable and enforceable standards as effective as federal standards for California workers. The Standards Board also has the responsibility to grant or deny applications for variances from adopted standards and respond to petitions for new or revised standards.
Kate has been director of safety and health at Hensel Phelps Services since 2015. Her previous experience includes director of safety and health regulatory affairs at the Associated General Contractors of California and has worked with other large general contractors. She is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and the Central Washington University Industry Advisory Council.
