The Los Angeles Building Council (LABC) awarded Hensel Phelps the “Green Building” Award of Excellence at their 2013 Los Angeles Architecture Awards program for their efforts at the Playa Vista Elementary School project.
Playa Vista Elementary is a 63,000 square foot facility meeting the needs of 650 students in Los Angeles. This facility was originally designed to achieve LEED Gold certification but the Hensel Phelps team worked in collaboration with Los Angeles Unified School District, the construction manager and the design team, through ingenuity were able to push the limits of the project to ultimately achieved LEED Platinum.
