Hensel Phelps was recently awarded The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. The Dell Medical School will be the first of three phases of the proposed medical district to be built at the University of Texas at Austin as part of its new Campus Master Plan.
The project consists of a 240,000 SF research building and vivarium, a 200,000 SF medical office building (MOB), and significant roadway and utility infrastructure for the entire district. The buildings will provide an environment that meets the basic and clinical research needs of the new medical center as well as outpatient care of the new teaching hospital. The design and construction is intended to achieve LEED Silver certification, and construction is anticipated to break ground in late 2013. The university plans to open the medical school in the fall of 2016.
