AI (artificial intelligence) and machine learning are the use of statistical techniques that gives computer systems the ability to “learn” from large datasets, identify patterns and anomalies and run simulations that provide our teams the ability to make more intelligent business and project decisions. As the processes are exposed to more data, our machines become better at understanding and providing insights into project hazards, preventing cost overruns, improving planning and scheduling, performing project lifecycle cost analysis and more.

3D printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing (AM), is a process of sequential layering of plastic to make three-dimensional structures that are either printed as a whole or in small prints that are assembled to represent a project building, a project site, project systems or individual assets of interest. Using specialized 3D printers, these models are printed and constructed at a usable scale to provide our teams and clients with an interactive look at the future completed project. The value these models brought to the project teams are realized as a display of the project end state or as an interactive modular visualization tool used to communicate scope and cost, sequencing and scheduling, and construction means and methods.

In an effort to maintain our awareness of risks and various systems on a jobsite, our use of reality capture allows our teams to scan an object, building, or site in the real world and convert the scan data into models and visualizations that are useful for design, coordination and construction workflows. Reality capture supplements and even replaces many of the traditional methods of surveying and assessing a construction or renovation site, creating efficiency and a safer work environment for our people and trade partners.

Through the M.O.R.E security awareness program, our people are trained annually on password safety, online scams, and phishing techniques used to hack information housed by Hensel Phelps.
