Hensel Phelps’ Yolo Superior Courthouse in Woodland, California, recently achieved LEED Silver Certification. Hensel Phelps worked with Fentress Architects and Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects to achieve credits in all of the major LEED categories. One of the top features is the use of natural light, often difficult in courthouses. Windows and skylights appear throughout, and small windows were added to the walls behind the judge’s bench for interior courtrooms. LEED Silver Certification is quite an accomplishment, given the project’s budget constraints. Congratulations to the project team for their hard work in earning this certification!
