Lockheed Martin awarded Hensel Phelps the $51 million SCF Transition in Courtland, Alabama. Designed by Jacobs Engineering, this building will be the new operations building for the Santa Cruz Facility team.
The project will consist of renovating an existing 23,000 SF structure while adding 50,000 SF of multi-purpose space with a pre-engineered metal building shell. The project is comprised of several scopes, with the concrete scope including foundations, slab-on-grade, slab-on-metal-deck and cast-in-place blast walls. The demolition scope includes demolition of a catenary mast system, site utilities, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, a building tie in wall and structure and existing building site and concrete. Additional scope will include above-ground magazines with a canopy that will store munitions on the outside of the building space and a small site package of asphalt and concrete paving.
Construction is slated to start in August 2023 and is estimated to complete in December 2024.
