The new airside project is the next step in the Tampa International Airport’s Master Plan.
The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA) has awarded the design-build team consisting of Hensel Phelps, HNTB Corporation, Gensler and The Beck Group the contract to design and construct the new Airside D at the Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Florida.
On May 4, the HCAA Board of Directors approved Hensel Phelps as their design-build partner after the team earned first place during the procurement process. Design will begin in August of 2023 with construction expected to start in 2024.

The new ground up airside will allow TPA to accommodate an additional 13 million passengers and will include 16 gates serving international and domestic fights. This 585,000 SF project will include concessions space, TSA and CBP security facilities and will incorporate the newest technologies for bag screening, gate check-in and baggage processing.
